The Family Center
Empowering parents as their children’s first and most important teachers.
Starting off behind in school can have lasting impacts on a person’s growth and future achievements. As a proud Parents as Teachers (PAT) Blue Ribbon Affiliate, we provide evidence-based home visiting support to families, guiding parents from pregnancy through age five to promote healthy child development and family well-being.
Pregnancy Home Visiting Services
Prenatal Care: Our maternal health services are available from the first trimester of pregnancy, offering comprehensive support and education on prenatal care, opportunities to connect with other birthing individuals, health screenings and connections to a prenatal care provider, and help preparing for labor and delivery.
Postpartum Care: The postpartum period can be a time of great adjustment. We provide ongoing support to help you recover and adapt to life with your new baby. Our services include health screenings, infant development education and activities, stress management, and connections to resources for help in other areas by CAPPA trained doulas and PAT certified Parent Educators.
Parent Home Visiting Services
Child Development: Our early childhood services focus on supporting child development from birth through age five. We introduce educational activities, goal setting, developmental screenings, and personalized guidance to ensure that children reach their full potential.
Parenting Support: Equip yourself with the knowledge and skills needed to foster a positive and enriching environment. One-to-one home visiting services, Group Connection events, and Parents Café cover a range of topics, including early literacy, social-emotional development, and effective parenting strategies.
Fatherhood: The Fatherhood Initiative is designed to engage and support fathers, recognizing their unique and crucial role in their children’s development. From balancing work and family life to enhancing your parenting skills, we offer valuable resources to help you succeed.
Kindergarten Transition Program: Each summer, our Kindergarten Transition Program prepares children for the transition to kindergarten through interactive and educational classroom experiences. This program helps children become familiar with the school environment, develop social skills, and build confidence. We also offer guidance and support to parents, helping you understand how to support your child’s readiness for kindergarten and ensuring a smooth start to their educational journey.
This program is supported in part by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) of Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services (DHS) and Pennsylvania’s Department of Education (PDE), and the Pennsylvania Children’s Trust Fund.
